CA Intermediate Eligibility Criteria 2023 - The Institute of Chartered Accountancy of India (ICAI) prescribes the eligibility criteria for CA Intermediate 2023. Candidates should go through the latest CA Intermediate eligibility and other academic requirements before filling the CA Intermediate application form. ICAI conducts the CA Inter exam twice in a year. Students willing to appear in either of the sessions of CA Intermediate exam should check the CA Inter registration dates.

CA Intermediate Eligibility Criteria 2023

Candidates can register for the CA Intermediate programme through two routes. The first option is through the CA Foundation programme and the second option is the direct entry route after qualifying the graduation, postgraduation or a particular level of professional degree programme.

Given below are the detailed eligibility requirements for candidates to consider before filling the CA Intermediate 2023 exam form.

1. Through CA Foundation Route

Students who have cleared the Common Proficiency Course or CA Foundation exam are eligible to apply for any of the CA Intermediate exam group(s). Such candidates can just pay the Intermediate registration fees to register for the CA Intermediate exam.

Candidates appearing in CA Intermediate programme examination must have completed eight months of study course on or before the first day of the month in which exams are scheduled to be held.

2. Through Direct Entry Route

Students who have various other qualifications are also eligible to directly appear in the CA Intermediate examination. The eligibility criteria for such students are as mentioned below.

CA Intermediate eligibility for graduate/postgraduate students

• Candidates who are commerce graduate and postgraduate with at least 55% marks are eligible to apply directly for the CA Intermediate course.

• However, candidates from streams other than commerce with minimum 60% marks and more are eligible to register for CA Intermediate examination.

• The students will be required to complete the 9 months of study course on or before the first day of the month in which examination is to be held to be eligible to appear in CA Inter exam.

CA Intermediate 2023 eligibility criteria for CS and CMA students

• Candidates who have passed the CS Executive level of Institute of Company Secretaries of India.

• Candidates who have completed the CMA Intermediate programme conducted by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India are qualified to apply for the groups of CA Inter examination.

• Such candidates should complete the 9 months of study course on or before the first day of the month in which examination to be held.

CA Intermediate Eligibility Criteria 2023 - Important points

ICAI also prescribes the important eligibility information mentioned below:

• Candidates who have passed graduation from an open university are also eligible to directly apply for the CA Inter examination.

• Commerce graduates or postgraduates who have studied accounting, auditing, mercantile laws, corporate laws, economics, management, taxation, costing, business administration, or management accounting or similar title subjects are exempted to pass CA Foundation course and can directly appear in CA Inter examination.

• Candidates in the final year of their graduation can also register for the CA Intermediate examination on a provisional basis. Such candidates will have to produce the proof of passing within 6 months of appearing in the final qualifying examination. Provisionally registered candidates can commence their practical training of ICITSS (Information technology and orientation course).

CA Intermediate Registration 2023

ICAI has a centralised self service portal (SSP) to manage the registration procedure. For any administrative interaction or query, students can make use of SSP throughout their life cycle. This portal allows candidates to interact with the administration without paying any physical visit to the centre.

There are two routes for candidates to register for the CA Intermediate level course, namely:

1. After qualifying Foundation Course: Candidates who have passed their CA Foundation can register for the CA Inter examination. Students can convert to direct entry by paying the Intermediate registration fees only.

2. Direct entry route: CMA Inter or CS Executive level pass candidates can register for CA Inter examination under direct entry scheme. Direct entry candidates can register through SSP. To access the online CA Inter registration form, students can click on the tab - Entry Level Forms (Foundation and Intermediate direct entry) under the portal. Fill in the necessary details and upload the self attested documents. To complete the registration process, pay the registration fee.

Upon completion of the registration process, students will have to order the study material through centralised dispatch on the portal - icai-cds.org.

Points to note before CA Intermediate Registration

Candidates are advised to consider the following points during the CA Inter registration process:

1. Documents: Candidates can upload the photo and signature as per the prescribed dimensions before proceeding for registration.

2. Status on Dashboard: Candidates must update the articleship status on SSP. CA Intermediate students whose registration mode is not appearing on the dashboard can raise a ticket in SSP for its resolution before the commencement of exam applications.

3. Revalidation: Candidates should have a valid course registration. In case the registration is lapsed, candidates must revalidate or convert on SSP. CA Intermediate course registration is valid for 4 years. Students can revalidate their registration from the SSP on expiry of the said period. The fee for revalidation is Rs. 400 for CA Intermediate

4. Conversion: Candidates who are registered under Old Scheme compulsorily have to convert on Self Service Portal from CA Intermediate (IPCE) to CA Intermediate by paying Rs. 1,000.
