The Minimum Passing Score (MPS) is the minimum passing mark required by candidates to clear the CFA level 2 exam. The MPS varies for every session. The authorities determine the MPS for every session separately. This is done in order to account for the differences in the difficulty level of the exams.

The CFA level 2 result is announced online approximately 5-8 weeks after the exam.
The minimum passing score is determined by the authorities for each session to factor in the changes in the difficulty level and other influencing factors in the exam.

The CFA level 2 result not just contains information on the candidate’s qualified status but it also contains other information which helps candidates take stock of their exam performance. Given below are the important elements in CFA Level 2 result
Minimum Passing Score (MPS): The MPS is the most important element in the CFA level 2 result. A score above the MPS indicates the candidate has passed. A score below the MPS indicates the candidate has failed to qualify.
True Ability: The CFA level 2 result is an indicator of the true ability of the candidate as the institute tries to control factors which could unduly influence the result.
Confidence Interval: The CFA level 2 result is declared with a confidence interval of 90% indicating that there is only 10% chance for an error. Scores which are considerably higher than the MPS indicate a higher confidence interval as the candidate would have passed in the exam anyway. Similarly scores considerably below the MPS indicate that the candidate would have failed anyway.
Percentile Score: Candidates are also informed about the top 10 percentile and the bottom 10 percentile scores to give an idea of their relative scores compared to other candidates.
Topic Wise Score: The institute also provides topic wise scores to candidates to give an idea of topic wise proficiency. However, it is important to note that the CFA level 2 result is declared on the basis of aggregate score.
The CFA Institute also declares the CFA level 2 pass percentage along with the CFA level 2 result. It indicates the ratio of candidates who appeared in the exam versus who passed.
