The analysis of the CFA result would help candidates prepare better for future opportunities or retaking the same level. The following things are looked at while examining the candidate’s CFA Level 3 result.
CFA score: The CFA scores indicate competency of the candidate and not relative competency. Candidates scoring above MPS are considered to have passed and candidates scoring below MPS are considered to have failed. However, the institute also provides aggregate percentile scores to provide a sense of relative performance of the other candidates.
True Ability: The Institute tries to provide an accurate picture of the true ability of the candidate through the CFA level 3 result. There could be many influencing factors which affect a candidate’s performance in the exam such as candidate’s level of preparation, test environment, among others . However, the CFA Institute would declare the CFA level 3 result 2025 in a way that it incorporates all the influencing factors and portray the true ability of the candidate.
Confidence Interval: It refers to the degree of confidence one has over the CFA level 3 result. The institute declares the result with a 90% confidence level.
The confidence interval is a term that is related to true ability. A candidate who obtained a score which is considerably higher than the MPS would have passed under any circumstances which means there is higher confidence. Similarly, a candidate who obtained a score considerably lesser than the MPS would have failed under any circumstances. Here too there is high confidence. A candidate who scores very close to MPS would mean the confidence interval overlaps with the MPS. Such candidates need to work harder to improve their score.
Aggregate Percentile: CFA Institute provides candidates with the top 10 percentile range and the bottom 10 percentile range. Candidates can use this range to estimate their own percentile score.
Topic Wise Scores: Candidates also get information on topic wise scores which helps them assess their performance across different areas and work on their weak points.
