Candidates are deemed qualified or not qualified in the CFA Level 1 exams based on the Minimum Passing Scores (MPS). The CFA Institute never discloses the CFA Level 1 MPS officially. However, experts suggest that candidates must target a score of 70% or above. The CFA Level 1 MPS will not be represented in a numerical value, instead candidates will see the MPS as a straight line on the scorecard.
The CFA Institute has a very unique approach towards declaring results. The institute never discloses the scores of candidates in numbers. However, the scores of candidates are depicted in a very visual manner. On the very first page of their scorecards, candidates will see their results as a pictorial representation. Candidates will see a straight line that denotes the MPS. The score of the candidates will be represented as a hanging straight blue line. If the blue line is equivalent or higher than the MPS line, it means that the candidate has qualified in the exam. In case the CFA score line is beneath the MPS line, this means candidates were not able to clear the CFA Level 1 in this attempt.
