    The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) sets the CA Intermediate passing marks. As per the official passing criteria, it requires candidates to score 40% on each paper and 50% total aggregate in a group. Students must pass both these requirements to avoid re-taking the exam. The CA Inter exam consists of two separate groups, which include six papers in total. The upcoming group 1 CA Intermediate exam will be held on May 3, 5, & 7, 2026, while the group 2 exams will be held on May 9, 11, & 13, 2026.

    Students who meet the minimum passing requirements for CA Inter should register for the mandatory 2-year articleship to gain practical experience. After the completion of articleship, an eligible candidate can sit for the CA Final examination.     The CA Inter paper is considered to be the toughest paper compared to all levels of the CA examination. The average pass rate of CA Intermediate is only between 10 - 13%. Also, students mostly focus on studying without planning a marks strategy.
