The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) conducts the NISM Mutual Fund Distributor 5A examination almost every day throughout the year. Since it is a computer-based examination, the results for NISM Mutual Fund Distributor Series V-A are displayed on the screen after the time ends. According to the exam pattern, candidates need to score at least 50 marks out of 100 to pass NISM Mutual Fund Distributor Series V-A.

Those who have provided their Income Tax Permanent Account Number (PAN) during registration and pass the exam will receive the NISM certificate within 14 days after the exam. The validity of the certiftciate is valid for three years from the date of issue. To renew the validity, candidates have to appear for the NISM Continuing Professional Education.

According to the official website, there is no set limit on the number of attempts. Therefore, even if the results for NISM Mutual Fund Distributor V-A show as a fail after the exam. Candidates can still enroll and rebook a slot for Rs. 1500 for the next 3 attempts immediately. However, if the examinee still fails to pass the NISM Series V-A after 3 consecutive attempts, they will be unable to attempt it for three months, as the cooling-off period applies.
After qualifying the exam with the minimum pass percentage of 50%. Candidates have to follow the following steps:
1. KYD (Know Your Distributor): Since the exam is a mandatory test required to sell or distribute mutual funds in India. The process involves submitting documents and verifying fingerprints for unique identification.
2. ARN Application Through CAMS: Candidates have to apply for and obtain an ARN, which allows them to undertake mutual fund distribution legally. Here, the person has to submit their NISM Series V-A certificate, PAN, KYD documents, and a cancelled cheque to CAMS (Computer Age Management Services).
3. ARN Issuance: An email will be sent only after CAMS verifies the submitted documents, which will include the ARN letter. Those who prefer a physical ARN card can request it through the CAMS official portal.
