Levels of ACCA 2023 exams

There are a total four levels in ACCA 2023. Foundation in Accountancy is the very first level of ACCA exams for those looking to pursue the course after Class 10 and students from non-accountancy backgrounds. Basically, there are three levels for non FIA routes in ACCA courses - Knowledge Level, Skill Level and Professional Level. Candidates will be required to pass a total of 13 exams in these levels to get ACCA certification. The list of ACCA subjects and levels has been given below:

ACCA Eligibility Criteria 2023

ACCA specifies the eligibility criteria for ACCA exams through its official website. Candidates must only apply for the ACCA 2023 exams after verifying the eligibility criteria. There are a total of 13 exams in ACCA and the eligibility criteria differs. The detailed eligibility for ACCA 2023 has been given below:

ACCA eligibility after 12th

  • Candidates must have passed their class 10+2 from a recognized board.

  • Candidates must have scored 65% marks in 2 subjects out of five including Accounts and Mathematics, and minimum 50% in the remaining 3.

  • Higher secondary certificate holders must score over 130 marks from 200 to be eligible to take the ACCA 2023 course.

ACCA after Class 10

  • Students who have completed their class 10 can also take the ACCA course after completing the ACCA Foundation in Accountancy diploma.

ACCA after graduation

  • Candidates pursuing graduation in Commerce i.e. B.Com, BBA, BMS are also eligible to take up ACCA exams.

  • BA/B.Sc. graduates from a recognized university can also take up the ACCA course, but they will have to take the ACCA Foundation diploma first.

ACCA for CA students

  • Students preparing for CA Foundation and CA Inter exams are also eligible to take up the course.

  • Chartered Accountants are also eligible to take the ACCA exam for added credibility and global advantage.

Age limit - The minimum age of candidates should be at least 16 years to be able to take up the ACCA Foundation diploma course.

ACCA Exemptions 2023

Students who hold some kind of degree in the field of accounts and commerce will get some exemptions for the ACCA certification. It basically means that such candidates will not be required to take some exams. However, there is a proper procedure to apply for exemptions by paying a fee. The exemptions for ACCA 2023 have been given below:

  • Students who have passed their class 12 will not be required to take the Foundational Diploma course of ACCA.

  • Candidates who have completed their graduation in Commerce will be exempted from ACCA Knowledge level exams like Business & Technology (BT), Management Accounting (MA), and Financial Accounting (FA) and Corporate and Business Law Exam of Skill Level Exam.

  • Candidates who are Chartered Accountants will be exempted from taking 9 exams out of the total 13 exams. Such candidates will only have to take the four exams of Professional Level.

  • Candidates who have cleared CA Intermediate exam will be exempted from Business & Technology, Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, Taxation, Audit and Assurance exams.

How to apply for ACCA exam exemptions?

Candidates who have qualified the above given degrees and are eligible for exemptions, can follow the below given steps to claim exemptions from some exams of ACCA 2023:

Check the cost: ACCA charges a fee for each exam and candidates will be required to pay an exemption fee for the particular exam from which they want exemption given they fulfil the conditions of exemption. Candidates can use the ACCA Exemption Calculator to find out the cost of the exemptions that they are seeking.

Prepare your documents: Next, candidates will be required to prepare all the documents of qualification to claim their exemption. This may include their graduation certificate or CA results or class 12 marksheets.

Move to Registration: Candidates can claim for exemptions at the time of their ACCA 2023 registration itself. Candidates will be required to upload the documents supporting their exemption and the required fee.
