Khandelwal tweeted, “Two CAs have made the community proud: CA Harshita Goel from Vadodara, who secured an outstanding All India Rank 2, and CA B. Shivchandran, who achieved All India Rank 23. Earlier, ICAI had issued a circular on its official website regarding eligibility of Chartered Accountants to appear in the Civil Services examination. The official circular from ICAI read, “As per the existing rules of Civil Service Examination, the prescribed basic educational qualification is degree of any recognized university or an equivalent qualification. Candidates possessing professional and technical qualifications which have been recognized by the government as equivalent to professional/technical degree are also eligible for the examination. As per orders issued by Government of India, a pass in the CA final examination has been recognized for recruitment to superior services/posts of the Government of India. Accordingly, candidates possessing CA qualification are eligible for admission to civil services examination.”
Civil Services historically has been dominated by candidates coming from the Arts and Humanities background.
