Congratulations on securing second rank in CA Intermediate November 2023. How did you feel when you first saw your rank? Did you expect this rank?
I was expecting to pass with good marks and aimed for a rank but yeah definitely it was very overwhelming and I was all into tears.
Can you briefly tell us about your educational and family background?
I have always been a good academic performer and have topped in all grades in my school life securing 96.8% in 10th and 99% in 12th. My father is a businessman and mother, a homemaker. My brother is an engineer.
What made you opt for Chartered Accountancy?
The love for numbers and hatred for chemistry made me choose commerce and the diversity of the course made me choose Chartered Accountancy.
Have you completed CA Foundation or you opted for the direct entry route?
I did my CA Foundation in Dec 2022 and secured 366 which was highest across the nation in that attempt.
What was your preparation strategy for the CA Intermediate exam?
I had a very planned strategy and made plans in advance and made sure that targets were met which would ensure a structured study pattern. Also I used to have a fixed schedule with proper breaks in between.
The next CA Final exam would be held as per the new ICAI scheme. How are you adjusting your preparation for the ICAI new scheme?
I have not planned it yet but I definitely would be contemplating about the new strategy soon.
How do you evaluate the ICAI new scheme? Is it better than the old one for CA aspirants?
The new ICAI scheme is definitely beneficial as the time available for studies has been increased and the last paper of CA Final has been made to make the brains run in the most intellectual and analytical manner due to the mix of all subjects. But at the same time there are two sides of the same coin and the reduced articleship will lead to lesser experience and exposure.
What are your future plans after completing CA?
I plan to do CFA and will look up to an MBA too later on.
Any advice you would want to give to students preparing for CA exams?
Consistency is the key to success as there was not a single day when I didn't touch my books and kept the course always above everything else. I believe sacrificing a few things like parties and get-togethers shall keep you motivated to work harder. Having a determined attitude and never losing hope is important because there were days when I even felt like giving up and leaving it all but I kept moving and here I am.
