Key Takeaways from CA Foundation Pass Percentage Analysis

  • The CA Foundation June 2024 exam saw the steepest fall in a decade. Compared to Dec 2023 session where the pass percentage was 29.99%, the CA Foundation June 2024 pass percentage fell down to 14.96%. This is over 50% decline in the CA Foundation exam pass rate compared to the session before it.

  • This can largely be attributed to the introduction of ICAI New Scheme of Education and Training. It can be inferred that given it was the first exam under ICAI New Scheme of Education and Training, students might have faced difficulties in the exam.

  • The subsequent exam after the June 2024 session showed a slight improvement in terms of pass percentage. The CA September 2024 pass percentage jumped up slightly to 19.67%. This means that students will slowly get used to the new scheme of education and the pass rates will stabilize in the coming future.

  • Historically the September and December sessions have seen a better pass rate. This can be attributed to the fact that students get more time for preparation compared to June or January exams where students are still preparing or just finished with their board exams.
